Jennifer and I recently changed jobs in Korea. This was brought about by a mutual agreement with our previous employer to end our contract. The reason for this were because our employer needed us to move around every other week and teach at other schools for 3-10 days. This is very unsettling and difficult, especially when you don't know what to expect when you get there (i.e. will there be dishes to cook with? Will there be a full sized bed or just twins? etc). We were also unsatisfied with the commute we had to get to work (45min with dangerous drivers) and the amount of time we were spending "working" without teaching, and then having to come in and work weekends too.
When we informed our employer that we no longer wished to travel to other schools all the time, he told us that things would not work if we didn't travel. So, we decided to end the contract early. He was very helpful to us in finding another job and even informed our recruiter for us to start looking for work for us. Jennifer quickly found several positions we were qualified for and soon we were turning down offers. We are now employed with Gyeonggi English Village in Paju and are starting our first day of work today (Monday, November 29th).
Paju is located north of Ilsan (where we were last year) and is a newly developed area. We are thankful that we are close to our old church and the friends we have in the Ilsan area.
