Peppero Day

Well I was a little disapointed with the quality of candy at Halloween here in Korea. It was mostly hard candy, and if you know me, you know that I LOVE chocolate. Well Korea has a special holiday on November 11th called Peppero Day.

Peppero is usually chocolate covered pretzels that are long and strait. Due to the shape they look like the number 1. So the candy company created a holiday called Peppero Day. On Peppero day everyone gives everyone Peppero.

We were warned ahead of time that even die hard chocolate lovers would get more Peppero then they could handle. Yeah right, I thought in my head.

Well on Peppero day I didn't eat my lunch. Why? Because one of my students found a bug on his food and I didn't know if it had arrived there before or after I served his plate. The worst part was that the food we were eating had little black seeds in it. They looked just like the bug that I saw moving, so I chose not to eat my lunch.

I was okay not eating. I never got hungy because in every class at least one student would give me a Peppero stick and I would absentmindedly eat them to satisfy the hunger. So by the end of the day I had eaten way too many Peppero sticks.

When I left school I figured my Peppero adventure was over. I also decided to work out extra hard that day at the gym. As I was getting my heart rate up real high, the trainers at the gym put a table in the middle of the room and started having a Peppero eating contest. Who every heard of a chocolate eating contest at a gym? The game was interesting. I didn't win. But I think I am still working off the calories.

I think I like this holiday.
