Benefits:
The employer pays for your plane ticket to Korea and your return flight at the end of the your contract. Some employers will have you buy your plane ticket and then they repay you, but this can take two months or more, so you should be wary of footing the initial bill. You get paid a full salary plus room and board. Your employer pays for 50% of your medical coverage. You get paid vacations/sick leave and overtime pay. All apartments must come with a T.V., a pillow and a blanket (but not necessarily sheets). They are furnished too. (Think about a furnished apartment in a college town.)
Some employers pay for one meal a day or give you a stipend for one meal.
Be careful if an employer says that you get 2 weeks paid vacation and overtime pay. Ask them if your vacation is on set days or not. We had a job where they gave you one day off each month and that counted as your “vacation” days. Overtime is often accumulated over a one month period instead of daily or weekly. So instead of getting paid over time they will give you one of these “paid vacation days.” Other places might give you 4 weeks of paid vacation. Two of the weeks are set for Cheosuk and Lunar New Year. The other two weeks you can request off.
