A Walk In The Park

Chris:
Well, I had a sad week. I lost two of my favorite students:-( Why do the good students leave suddenly whereas you hear about the ones you want to leave for months in advance before they finally go away? I don’t get it.

We also lost one of our favorite foreign teachers this week and she was replaced by the second male teacher at our school for quite some time. We are sad that Joan left, but at the same time Ryan seems like an interesting and nice guy.

I also got 4-5 more students in another class I have, which doubled the size of my class from five to ten. The kids seem well behaved and inclined to listen, which makes me happy, and hopefully they will have a calming effect on my four rambunctious boys in the class.

Jenn:
We have decided that we need to get more exercise. If we don’t have specific plans for the weekend we end up just sitting around the apartment. That just won’t do. This weekend instead of doing nothing we decided to take a walk around Lake Park.

What we didn’t discuss was how long of a walk. So we ended going almost all the way around and it took 2 hours. It was very hot and our feet hurt when we got home. But it was a great walk. We discovered a lot of things there. Like a really cool swing that even makes Chris look short.

I always try to remind Chris to wear a hat when we are going to be out in the sun. Usually he forgets because he does not like his ball caps. So this weekend he forgot his hat and I forgot my sun block. This along with the sun was a very bad combo for his head. Just as we walked into Lake Park we saw to adjumas (Old ladies) selling hats on the ground. Chris found a black and white cameo colored hat that has a large rim, netting on the top for some nice ac and a string to hold it on. It was perfect for him. The best part was that the hat only cost 5,000 won or $3.95. Now that Chris has a hat that he likes he will most likely wear it more often.

We are hoping to get into a routine of walking at the park every Saturday as long as the weather is nice. July is supposed to be monsoon season. So far we have survived the first 5 days with no rain.
